I have this bad habit of leaving things for the last-minute, while expecting them to be perfect at the same. Perfection doesn’t happen three hours before my submission deadline! You’d think I would know this by now …

We’ve received a number of assignments and I’m finding it difficult to manage my time properly. I’m constantly playing Catch Up instead of Keep Up and I’m failing miserably. It feels like I’m slowly sinking, trying desperately to keep myself afloat but the stress of the situation is dragging me down.

Weekends are my lifeline, I desperately look forward to their arrival. But it comes and goes way too quickly, it always leaves me wanting more. My high school teacher’s words are haunting me:

“You have to keep up, always try to be on top of things. Once you fall behind, you’ll spend the rest of your time trying to catch up to the rest of  ’em”.

Maybe I’m just being overly dramatic about the entire situation and I just need to relax. But now, I’m just trying not to drown.

So tell me, tell me, tell me
What am I to do
I think that this life is darker than the view
So help me, help me, help me
Be a little more like you
When everything is falling
I’m gonna do the things you do

  1. Don’t worry about perfection, it doesn’t exist. I try to do things with all my heart and as best as I can (yes I also need a bit of time pressure to help me overcome my mental obstacles) and accept the outcome because I’ve given it my best.
There’s always the next time and another go, we’ll learn and improve as we keep on trying and practicing and having fun, most of all 🙂
    have a great weekend,

  2. Learning to prioritize and establishing REASONABLE time frames to accomplish the tasks is a key to achieving goals. I live be doing what I like the LEAST first! If you spend a lot of time and ENERGY getting things accomplished and then come to the tasks you don’t like, they commonly get “put off” or delayed. This delay process (day after day) creates a mountainous “to do list” difficult to face.

Like good health, it takes practice, mistakes (from which we learn to not repeat,) self discipline and character development. All these components lead to an increase in self understanding and self confidence.

You will learn this PROCESS will help you as life takes on even more responsibility. Live, learn and enjoy the person you become. It makes life a less volatile place to live.

    1. Hello doctor :)! Thank you for taking the time to read and comment on this post. I definitely struggle with setting reasonable time frames to complete things, but I have slowly been breaking habits that make me less productive.

I have implemented your motto, and it has worked wonders for me. And for this, I thank you very much. Thank you for all the advice and kind words to keep me motivated, I really appreciate it.

Thanks for stopping by doc 🙂 Keep well!

  3. I always have this feeling like I never have enough time for everything. It’s with me every single day. I’m getting better at managing my time but it’s a lot of work! So I understand where you’re coming from.
