Beauties, ‘It’s the final countdown’ …

Mike has a heart although he didn’t consider its feelings when he began his affair with Beth. After a tiresome day at work, he went home to a lovely home cooked meal and his loving wife. ‘Babe, I have to tell you something. Could you please come join me? … I’ve been seeing someone else, this is not working out for me any more … I can’t keep on pretending! We’re not okay and I don’t think we’ll ever be again’ he looked at his wife, trying to gauge her reaction, desperately searching for an answer as she looked so calm. ‘ baby? Say something. Please’.

Jenn got up without batting an eyelash and started clearing the table. She didn’t beg, she just remained silent. She was staring at him for a long time, trying to figure out why she allowed him to come to her bed knowing that he was with her. Every night she hoped he would somehow be different, instead he drifted further and further away. Jenn pitied herself, her situation. If one of her friends were in a similar situation, she’d encourage them to Leave that cheating pig! Instead he got a loving wife who tended to his beck and call and tried to overlook everything because that’s what a good wife would do.

He was relieved that she didn’t react but it scared him even more that she seemed to be handling it so well. She grabbed a few of his belongings and put them into a suitcase. He stood there, frozen, amazed at her grace in what he thought was the biggest shock of her life. ‘ I assume you’re going to spend the night at her place … How long has this deceit been going on for? Coming into my house every night and inflaming my nostrils with her perfume. How dare you! And you expect me to say something! To beg you to stay when I’m the only one who’s been moving heaven and earth to make you happy, and this is the thanks I get … Take your things and leave. I never want to see you again.’

‘I’m sorry …’,  was all he said and left.

Beth was startled when she received a text message so early in the morning. Mike stood in her doorway. ‘ What are you doing here? Are you trying to ruin my marriage? You should go. Please’ as she said this she closed the door and stood outside with Mike. ‘ I left Jenn, I couldn’t do it any more… I though maybe we could give it a shot’ he said feebly. She gave him a sympathetic smile. ‘What we had, it was special, but it was a temporary fling. I like you, but I’m not willing to leave my husband for you.I just don’t see myself in your world’. He stood there speechless, he left his wife for his mistress and now she was rejecting him. …

Jhene Aiko – Sail Out

‘And I was not was not the only one

I was not the only one to you ..
So I was the only lonely one…
Really we had the perfect end…
That night we shared at the Comfort Inn…
We made love like the world would have ended…
If either of us had admitted..
We were in love…
But I was the only one…
So I was the only lonely one…’

-Comfort Inn Ending (Freestyle) by Jhene’ Aiko

It seems like nobody got what they deserved in this story, but it’s not a story. These things happen. You give up or leave someone for what you think is better, only to realise that maybe you were just fooling yourself into thinking that the other person cared as much as you do.

Know your worth, then you won’t settle for less.

Let your minds wander at the possibility of tomorrow.

  1. Hi, thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment on my blog. I’ll be stopping by shortly on your blog 🙂

Nothing else happened after this. They parted ways: Beth knew the kind of love she wanted and she was more than patient to wait for it.

Thanks for dropping by once again!
